Alison Martin, Founder and Chief Partnerships Officer

How does your role help contribute to the growth and success of Engage Mentoring?

I try to do whatever I can to help our team be successful and I work to establish partnerships to help further our mission of providing access to meaningful relationships for our program participants.

Coffee or tea? Black or milk and sugar?

Coffee in the morning, tea at night.  No cream or sugar ever!

What causes do you care about?

Supporting the advancement of women and really all forms of diversity including supporting people with disabilities with access to resources to improve their lives and well-being.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Why does it resonate with you?

Do what you are afraid to do.  This resonates with me because growth does not occur in your comfort zone and any change can be scary.  Your gut tells you what to do next and change can be paralyzing if you only focus on what can go wrong.  It usually works out in the end and you will always grow in the process.

What book or movie do you always recommend?

Book: The Go-Giver by Bob Burg.  It is an easy read that is foundational to how to show up in life and serve others as you are able to.

Movie: Casablanca is my favorite movie of all time.

What animal best represents you?

I am so bad at abstract questions, so I had to ask others.  I am a Taurus, so I guess that makes me a bull.  Seems fitting in certain situations, but I would also be a very kind bull by charging ahead, but making sure nobody is left behind.

Do you like listening to music or podcasts while you work? What is your favorite?

I currently listen to two podcasts that are recorded by friends of mine:

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Personally: My proudest accomplishment is raising two children who turned out to be pretty incredible humans.

Professionally: Building Engage Mentoring has been an exhilarating and humbling experience and I am so proud of our team!
